Cloud Lab and hosted MCP are paid-only. Community remains free for local installs.

1. Create an account

Open app.algobreeder.com and sign in with a magic link. Without a paid plan you can only reach Billing.

2. Upgrade

On Billing, choose Researcher (yearly). Stripe Checkout provisions your plan via webhook. Then use Manage billing for invoices, card updates, and cancel.

3. First Lab train

Open Lab → New session. Pick a symbol that exists in the hosted pack (e.g. EURUSD or ETHUSD). Token cost scales with trials, history length, and Monte Carlo — watch the usage bar on Overview.

4. Mint an API token

In the licence account portal, create an ab_… token. Hosted MCP rejects community tokens — your account must be on a paid plan.

5. Connect hosted MCP

Point your agent at https://mcp.algobreeder.com/mcp with Bearer ab_…. Paper-trading helpers may be labeled beta / stub — prefer Lab train/test for production research workflows.

Local Community (free)

Clone the open-source Community stack and run research/MCP locally. That path does not require a cloud subscription. Researcher+ algorithms on your machine still need the commercial package after purchase.
